Nathan Peterson was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. Nathan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007 to 2015 and continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve. After leaving active duty, Nathan finished his education at the University of Iowa, taking a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2016 and a Juris Doctor in 2020.
After law school, Nathan clerked in federal district court where he was exposed to the many different aspects of federal criminal practice. As Legal Adviser to a federal district judge, Nathan had the opportunity to observe some of the finest trial attorneys in the state advocate is hundreds of sentencings, revocations of supervised release, suppression hearings and bench trials and more than a dozen jury trials.
Nathan’s background also includes federal criminal prosecution primarily involving violations of federal firearms and drug laws, as well as civil litigation involving personal injuries.
Nathan lives in Iowa City with his wife, children, and dog, Duke.
